A Thai tree grows in MePa. Amid the gaggle of unique and super chic home stores, Establishment holds its own on Gansevoort Street. The store is the creation of Ungkun Chanasvangwonk, an interior designer who has realized his dream in being able to showcase his own design as well as that of contemporary designers from his native Thailand...

The store consists of a "treasure-trove of young, fresh design talent, many of whom have trained in the best European and American design schools and returned home to create a viable design industry in Thailand."

The look at Establishment is modern-organic and contemporary in styling, with pillows, low tables, bowls and artwork made out of lush, natural materials. If you are into minimalism with a Thai twist, Ungkun's shop is for you. Our particular favorite are the carved marble stone lamps (below) which give off the most remarkable light.

CoolHunting says: His products reflect his passion for traditional Thai designs expressed with a modern sensibility.
