Nintendo Announces The Nintendo DSi

Remember that rumor we speculated a few days back? Well, it looks like it's coming true, and not a day too soon. The new DSi will feature a 3MP dual camera, built in memory with SD card expansion, double touch screens, a larger 3.25" screen, skinnier design, and will come in two flavors - black and white - upon release.

Of course, this new model, according to Nintendo, isn't meant to replace the DS Lite, but complement their lineup instead. Which is good, in our opinion, since they're doing away with the Slot-2 (no more rumble pack, tilt cartridge, and backwards compatibility in the new DSi model. Fans who enjoy being able to go backwards and play older games will probably hate this change, but those who are looking for possibly the next best all-in-one handheld device should keep an eye out for this one.

Expect the Nintendo DSi to retail around $180 when it gets released "sometime next year."

A full in-depth look of their entire software lineup and abilities can be found on the official showreel Gametrailers.
