Astral’s antique market find was almost perfect, save for one thing. After some deconstruction and reconstruction she has a stylish and gold pattern free swivel table.

From Astral: I LOVE mid century modern furniture. I lucked upon this beautiful vintage swivel table at an antique mall.

Everything about the table was great EXCEPT the gold pattern in the glass. At first I thought that the pattern was part of the table underneath the glass and not a part of the glass. Since it was etched onto the glass, my only option was to paint the glass. Even though parts of the laminate on the legs were chipping a bit, I decided to leave that part alone….it adds to the charm. But that gold had to go.

I had to deconstruct the tiers in order to remove the glass from each part. I used white Rustoloeum lacquer in matte finish to spray paint the glass. Then I used a sealer on top of it.

Now it is an updated and neutral piece of furniture that can be mixed with almost any style.

Thank you, Astral! You can see more of this project on Astral’s blog.
