5th and Madison Condos in Seattle

5th and Madison Condos in Seattle

We're in the very early stages of kind-of-sort-of looking to buy our first home in the Bay Area (actually, just writing that makes us feel a little queasy). It's stressful and fun ... and frustrating when you're hoping for a green-ish home.

Sometimes we daydream about being able to move into a place that's already outfitted with dual-paned windows, a green roof, Energy Star appliances ...

When we see places like 5th and Madison in Seattle (which was named one of the top 10 green condos in America by Natural Home magazine) we get a little green with envy.

As far as we can tell, the building is not equipped with any kind of solar panels or wind turbines, but other than that, it seems to be getting most things right: low-VOC paints and building materials, a green roof, energy efficient appliances and mechanical systems, bike storage, on-site Flexcars, and low-flow fixtures.

There's even more -- read on.

Have any of our Seattle readers viewed any of these condos yet? It looks like the presentation center is now open. We'd love to hear your thoughts.
